Assignate ("we", "us", "our") runs assignate.in, a platform for college students to access notes and previous year question papers, order assignment and CAED drawing support, track deliveries, use study tools, and participate in campus clubs. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using Assignate, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the platform.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you give us directly, information generated by using the platform, and information needed to process orders and payments.

Account & profile information

• Name, email address, username and password (or Google account details if you sign in with Google)
• Mobile number, where provided
• College/branch, stream and semester, and any "My Subjects" combination you save

Usage & activity information

• Chapters and subjects you view, favourite, or have recently opened
• Study tasks, deadlines and planner entries you create on your Dashboard
• Pomodoro timer settings — these stay only in your browser and are never sent to our servers

Order information

• Order details: service type, subject/topic, quantity, due date, special instructions
• Files you upload as reference material for an assignment or CAED order
• Delivery details: customer name, email, mobile number and pickup location
• Order status, pricing, advance and balance amounts, and payment/transaction references

Payment information

Payments are processed by Razorpay. We do not receive or store your full card, UPI or bank credentials — Razorpay handles that directly under its own security and compliance standards. We store the resulting transaction ID, amount and payment status against your order.

Clubs information

• Club memberships, event registrations and RSVPs
• For club admins: announcements, event details and media you upload on behalf of a club

Cookies, local storage & similar technologies

We use browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences like your light/dark theme choice. Our Super Admin and Club Admin portals use a signed authentication cookie to keep admin sessions secure. We don't currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

2. Why We Collect and Use This Information

• To create and manage your account, and verify who you are
• To show you notes, PYQs and resources relevant to your semester and stream
• To process, track and deliver your assignment and CAED orders
• To take payment and reconcile advance/balance amounts against orders
• To communicate with you about your orders, deadlines and account
• To run club membership, events and announcements
• To improve the platform, fix bugs, and understand how features are used
• To secure accounts, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce rate limits (for example, on password reset requests)
• To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations

3. Third-Party Services We Use

We rely on trusted service providers to run Assignate. Each only receives the information it needs to do its job:

• Supabase — our database, authentication and file storage provider. Your account data, academic content, order records and uploaded files are stored on Supabase's infrastructure.
• Razorpay — our payment gateway, for processing order payments.
• Google — if you choose to sign in with Google.
• Amazon SES / Resend — for sending transactional emails such as order updates and account notifications.
• Our hosting provider — for running the Assignate website and application.

We don't sell your personal information to anyone, and we don't share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. How We Store and Protect Your Data

Your data is stored on Supabase's managed infrastructure with encryption in transit (HTTPS) and access controls (Row Level Security) that restrict each user's data to that user and to authorised admins. Files you upload for orders are kept in a private storage bucket and are only accessible via short-lived, signed links generated for you or for authorised staff — not via a public URL. Admin access to the Super Admin and Club Admin portals is role-based and separately authenticated from customer accounts.

No system is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration or loss.

5. How Long We Keep Your Data

• Account information is kept for as long as your account is active.
• Order and payment records are kept for as long as required for accounting, tax and legal purposes, even after an order is completed.
• Uploaded reference files are kept as needed to fulfil and support your order, and are removed on request where we're not legally required to keep them.
• If you delete your account, we remove or anonymise personal data that we're not otherwise required to retain.

6. When We Share Your Data

We share personal data only with the service providers listed above (to the extent needed to provide the platform), with club admins for club-related activity you take part in, or when required by law, regulation, court order, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Assignate, our users, or others.

7. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you can:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or outdated information (most profile fields can be edited directly in your account)
• Delete your account and associated personal data, subject to what we're legally required to retain
• Withdraw consent for optional processing at any time, without affecting anything already done based on earlier consent
• Raise a complaint or grievance about how we handle your data

To exercise any of these rights, email us at founder@assignate.in. We'll respond within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

Assignate is built for college students and isn't intended for children under 18. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and for significant changes we'll make a reasonable effort to let you know (for example, via the app or email). Continuing to use Assignate after a change means you accept the updated policy.

1. Eligibility & Accounts

Assignate is intended for college students. You must provide accurate information when creating your account and are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account.

2. Our Services

• Notes & PYQs — organised notes and previous year question papers, browsable by semester and stream.
• Assignment & CAED support — order assignment writing or CAED (Computer-Aided Engineering Drawing) support, with delivery tracking through your dashboard.
• Clubs — a directory of campus clubs, events and announcements.
• Dashboard tools — a daily planner, deadline tracker and Pomodoro timer to help you stay organised.

3. Orders, Pricing & Payments

Pricing for assignment and CAED orders is shown before you place an order, based on quantity, service type and urgency. Orders are billed in two parts: an advance payment to begin work, and a balance due on or before delivery, as shown at checkout. Payments are processed securely through Razorpay; we don't store your card or bank details.

You're responsible for providing accurate order details, requirements and reference files. Delays or errors caused by incomplete or incorrect information provided by you may affect delivery timelines.

4. Cancellations & Refunds

• Orders can be cancelled free of charge before work has started on them.
• Once work has begun, the advance payment covers work already completed and may not be refundable; any refund for partially completed work is at our discretion, based on the actual work done.
• If we're unable to deliver an order as described, you're entitled to a full refund of amounts paid for that order.
• Refunds, where applicable, are issued to the original payment method via Razorpay and may take a few business days to reflect, depending on your bank.
• To request a cancellation or refund, contact founder@assignate.in with your order details.

5. Delivery

Completed assignment and CAED work is delivered digitally through your Assignate dashboard, and/or physically via the pickup location you provide, as applicable to the order. Estimated delivery dates are shown at the time of ordering; we'll let you know if a delay is expected.

6. Academic Integrity

Notes, PYQs, and assignment/CAED support on Assignate are intended as study aids and reference material. You're responsible for using anything you access or receive through Assignate in line with your institution's academic integrity policies. Assignate does not guarantee any particular grade or academic outcome.

7. Content Ownership & Copyright

• Notes and PYQs made available on Assignate are for your personal, non-commercial academic use only. Redistributing, reselling or publicly republishing them without permission isn't allowed.
• Reference files you upload for an order remain yours; you confirm you have the right to share them with us for the purpose of completing that order.
• Once an order is paid in full, the completed deliverable is licensed to you for personal academic use.
• If you believe content on Assignate infringes your copyright, email founder@assignate.in with details of the content and your ownership claim, and we'll review and remove infringing content where appropriate.

8. Clubs & User Conduct

Club admins are responsible for the accuracy of their club's announcements, events and media. All users are expected to engage respectfully — harassment, spam, or misuse of the clubs directory isn't allowed and may result in restricted access.

9. Prohibited Use

You agree not to: upload unlawful, infringing or harmful content; attempt to bypass platform security or access other users' data; misuse the platform to spam or defraud others; or use Assignate in any way that violates applicable law.

10. Limitation of Liability

Assignate is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do; continuing to use Assignate after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of Indian courts.
